Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Rev. Clifton Eugene Harris, Jr. is the son of the late Rev. Clifton & Mamie Sue Harris. He attended Gower Jr. Elementary, Sterling High, and Greenville Senior High School. He furthered his education at Morris College Extension and Spartanburg Methodist and graduated from ITC Extension Seminary.
After serving in the United States Army, Rev. Harris was called to preach the word in December 1979. Israel Metropolitan CME Church is his home church and it was there that he received his local preacher’s license on January 12, 1980. Thusly, he was ordained a Deacon on July 16, 1982, an Elder on July 19, 1984, and to the Full Connection in 1985.
Rev. Harris has been the pastor at numerous churches in the CME denomination including People’s Temple in Rutherfordton, NC; Bethel in Cowpens, SC; Forest Chapel in Spartanburg, SC; Piney Ridge in Union Mills, SC; Allen Temple in Gaffney, SC; Logan Chapel in Charlotte, NC; Vanderhorst Memorial CME Church in Charleston, SC; Bunton Institutional CME Church in Spartanburg, SC; and is presently the Pastor at Prince Chapel CME Church in New Hill, NC.
Rev. Harris is married to Mrs. Dottie Deaneatha Twitty Harris. With their union, they have two children and three grandchildren
